Alright, now. . .why is my husband posting on MY blog? (it's 4:40 a.m. and I'm battling a bit of insomnia, so I guess I'll have to wait to find out) The way he says he comforted me after my failed blog attempt sounds a bit like a sappy Coke commercial. It wasn't quite that touching. It was more like, "It happens to me all the time. HA!" (He didn't actually exclaim "HA!", but you could hear it in his voice.
Wouldn't you know that on a night when all three kids are sleeping well, I'd be wide awake. It's very frustrating. I'll fall back to sleep just as the sun is coming up, then about thirty minutes later, the kids will start filing in. And it is so very hard to wake up after you've just fallen asleep. To me it feels like I've got bricks (or that lead vest from the dentist) laying on my body. And the kids will be tugging at me for entertainment and nourishment. It's always the tiredest mornings that they beg for homemade cinnamon rolls or muffins. Cereal without milk in front of the television will be more like it.
So I've been re-grouting the kitchen floor tile. It seemed like a simple enough project when I dove in. Replace the ten cracked tiles, grind out all of the old grout throughout the kitchen, slap on some new grout, slap on some sealer -- done. The project was rated a 1 on a scale from 1 to 5 (1 being the simplest) by Bob Vila. But nothing is ever that simple. I can't go into detail or I'll get too sad that things didn't go as planned, but let's just say you won't comment on the different grout types when you come by for a visit, alright? The project should be completely finished by tomorrow night (that's another thing -- no project that has to be done only in the hours that the children are in bed can truly be called a 1). It does look much nicer, but not nearly as satisfying since things didn't go quite as planned.
Kleenex with Lotion are one of the greatest creations known to man.
I really wish I were sleepy. I'm dreading the next three hours. I'd prefer to not resort to caffeine usage (Audrey will pay me back for it later in the day), I'm afraid I'll be brewing a bit of coffee in a couple of hours. I should just go get the pot ready to start so I don't have to tackle the tedious task of measuring grounds when I'm so very tired. But I probably won't.
I want to thank my dear friend Michael (wouldn't it be great if I could post a link to his site at cruftbox.com? My html guide is sleeping upstairs; the link will have to wait) for setting up this site for me. His lovely wife, Michele (scarymommy.net) recently started blogging and I think Michael is on a crusade to have everyone he knows blogging. He does a great job of keeping Martin (chokersandwich.com) on top of his blog. Again, thanks Michael. I hope I can live up to your expectations, as well as the high standard you have set in the fine art of blogging.
I'm gonna try to get another hour of sleep.
